Sean Kiewe tallied two goals and three assists and Bobby Seelinger and Zach Tarantino, the Devils’ Shore Conference Player of the Month for December, added two goals and two assists apiece powering Wall Township, No. 5 in The Hockey Advantage Public Schools Top 10, to a 9-3 triumph over No. 6 Middletown South at Middletown Ice World.
Michael Hannigan gave Middletown South a 1-0 lead off a one-timer from Deven Ralph behind the net, but Wall Township tied it up 16 seconds later off the ensuing face-off when Tarantino came out of the corner with the puck, cut in front and buried it.
Wall Township (14-0-2) took its first lead of the game when Kiewe won the draw back to Robert Curran who let one go from the point and through a screen to make it 2-1 with 9:37 left in the first period.
Middletown South (10-4) battled back and tied it up at two as Joe Ciervo banged home the rebound off of Hannigan’s initial shot from the point on the power play just 2:20 later, but Wall took the lead back with a power-play goal of its own when Kiewe fought off a defender in front and tipped Larry Hooper’s shot from the blue line home with 1:00 left in the opening frame.
Hooper finished with four assists in the game for Wall, which scored four goals in the second period — three on the power play — to extend its winning streak.
Seelinger scored twice with the man-advantage 1:52 apart to make it 5-2 before Kiewe notched his second goal of the game high, stick-side, on the power play 4:28 into the second period to make it a 6-2 game.
Jack Textor extended Wall’s lead to five when the senior finished the play started by Thomas Falletta and Kyle O’Neil.
Ralph put Middletown South on the board with its third goal of the game with an assist from Nick Lioudakis to make it 7-3 before Tarantino and Ryan Burns connected 3:24 apart in the third and final frame to cap the scoring.
Wall, which out-shot Middletown South 44-37, received a stand-out 34-save performance from Logan Beattie in between the pipes. Adam Bloodgood stood tall with 35 saves for Middletown South, which will take on Brick Township on Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Middletown Ice World.
Wall Township won’t have long to celebrate as it looks to continue its roll against Howell Wednesday night at 8 p.m. at Howell Ice World.
