BLAINE, MN — It only seems fitting to wrap up 2019 in “The State of Hockey.”

After 16 tournaments, not including a trip to Moscow, OneHockey, among the leaders, world-wide, in organized youth hockey tournaments, put a bow on 2019 by crowning five new team champions at the Minneapolis celebration event Dec. 20-22 at The National Sports Center Schwan Super Rink in Minnesota.

All told, 350 players from 23 teams spanning Colorado, Minnesota, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Manitoba, Canada, hit the ice playing 48 games over the course of the three-day event.

The Arvada Hockey Association from Colorado pitted three teams in the finals, walking away with one 14U A team title in what was an impressive performance all weekend. The Apple Valley Burnsville Firehawks captured the 12U AA title and the Andover Huskies seized the 14U AA crown, while Osseo Maple Grove and St. Thomas Academy prevailed in 16U AA and 18U AA, respectively.

“The Minnesota Tournament was nothing but smiles all around — a great mix of hockey between Minnesota and out-of-state teams,” OneHockey Tournament Director Shaun Lund said. “We supplied Santa and elf hats to all the parents in the stands and gave out a few Christmas light necklaces — they could not believe the generosity of OneHockey! All the teams loved their OneHockey beanies — a great gift for the cold weather — and Pete the Panda mascot was rocking the venue. It was a fun holiday event for all.”
