Waking up with you on my mind,
6 am practices had to be on time,
Love at first sight,
Dreaming about you every night,
Growing up sometimes there’s fights,
But we’d always make up after a few minutes,
Just for you my family drove far distances,
Weekends away just so I can play,
Game after game I lived to skate another day,
You’re too small was just outside noise,
You never doubted me,
You taught me most things about me,
How to Prove people wrong,
The cuts on the ice were my favorite song,
Each game was a blessing,
Losses were lessons,
I gave up everything for you,
Who would I be without you?
Just like you gave me everything you took everything,
I gave you my heart you took my legs,
Make me and my family stressed,
My everything broke my neck,
Thinking to myself what’s next,
Long days, long roads, and odd hours,
Hard work to regain some power,
The farther away I became you wrote me letters and signed jerseys with my name,
Reminding me you’d never forget me,
You never left me,
You’re the reason I came back from the flatline,
You’re the reason I put in the grind,
You’re the reason my grind turns to overtime,
As I watch I fall for you over again,
You’ll never leave me,
Been dreaming about you lately,
I know you’re waiting for me,
Until we play again my lady.
