Welcome to the next installment of HockeyClan’s weekly NHL power rankings. Each week throughout the season, HockeyClan ranks every team in the National Hockey League from top to bottom.

2-Toronto Maple Leafs (7-3) Crashing back to Earth with losses in two of its last three games, yielding six goals to Ottawa and Carolina each time. Wins: WIN, NYR, CHI, MON, WAS, DET, LA Last: 2

3-Pittsburgh Penguins (7-3-1) Back on the bandwagon. Wins: NSH, WAS, FLA, NYR, FLA, EDM, WIN Last: 4

4-Los Angeles Kings (8-1-1) Suffered first loss in regulation to Toronto, but Kings are playing well in front of Quick right now. Wins: PHI, SJ, BUF, NYI, MON Last: 6

5-St. Louis Blues (7-2-1) Have to start giving the Blues credit. They’re no pushover. Defeated the Penguins and Blackhawks. Wins: PIT, DAL, NYI, NYR, CHI, COL, CAL Last: 7

6-Chicago Blackhawks (5-3-2) Struggling to put together a complete 60-minute game. No reason to panic – yet. Wins: PIT, CBJ, MON, NSH, AZ Last: 3

Tier Two

7-Columbus Blue Jackets (6-3) All three losses (Blackhawks, Lightning, Kings) ahead of them on the ladder. Bobrovsky’s unit has yielded just 22 goals (6th in NHL). Wins: NYI, CAR, NYR, MIN, WIN, BUF Last: 8

8-Washington Capitals (4-5-1) Scuffling. Dropped four of last five. Wins: OTT, MON, NJ, DET Last: 5

9-Nashville Predators (4-3-2) 10th-best with only 23 goals allowed. 8th-worst with only 23 goals scored. Wins: PHI, DAL, COL, PHI Last: 9

10-New Jersey Devils (6-2) Long layoff since last Friday’s loss to the Sharks. Hopefully no hangover for these youngsters. Wins: COL, BUF, TOR, NYR, TB, OTT Last: 10

11-Anaheim Ducks (4-4-1) After quality victories over Montreal and Philadelphia, let eight slip by from Florida. Yikes! That’ll hurt that 3rd-best goals against. Wins: AZ, NYI, MON, PHI Last: 11

12-Ottawa Senators (5-1-4) Biggest jumpers this week including a full tier after triumphs over Toronto and Philadelphia. Wins: VAN, CAL, EDM, TOR, PHI Last: 16

13-Minnesota Wild (3-3-2) Starting to gel after slow work week on the schedule. Dubnyk will return to form. Wins: CHI, CAL, NYI Last: 12

Tier Three

14-Vegas Golden Knights (7-1) At what point does the “expansion” stigma disappear? League-low 19 goals allowed. Just beat Blues AND Hawks! Wins: DAL, AZ, AZ, BOS, BUF, STL, CHI Last: 20

15-Carolina Hurricanes (4-3-1) Doubled up Leafs, 6-3. Getting it done with smoke and mirrors. Who are these guys? Wins: MIN, EDM, CAL, TOR Last: 14

16-Calgary Flames (5-5) At least they snapped their 29-game road losing streak in Anaheim. Wins: WIN, ANA, LA, VAN, NSH Last: 15

17-Boston Bruins (4-3-1) Khudobin stepping in and stepping up for Rask (concussion). Wins: NAS, AZ, VAN, SJ Last: 19

18-San Jose Sharks (4-5) Two wins, two losses so far on current east coast swing. Fell just short to Boston, 2-1, on Thursday. Wins: BUF, MON, NJ, NYR Last: 22

19-Philadelphia Flyers (5-5) Losses in three of its last four. Elliott has been a sieve. Slides six spots. Wins: SJ, ANA, WAS, FLA, EDM Last: 13

20-Edmonton Oilers (3-5-1) Last – Last! – in the league in goals with 15 before pulling off 5-4 victory over Dallas Thursday night. Wins: CAL, CHI, DAL Last: 13

21-Dallas Stars (5-5) Third-best penalty killing unit in the league going to waste. After building three-game winning streak, lost last two. Wins: DET, COL, AZ, AZ, CAR Last: 21

22-Winnipeg Jets (4-3-1) Played one of their best games of the season in a 2-1 overtime loss at Pittsburgh. Hellebuyck has been hella-good. Wins: EDM, VAN, CAR, MIN Last: 24

Tier Four

23-New York Islanders (5-4-1) Winners of three straight before falling to Minnesota. Wins: BUF, SJ, NYR, SJ, AZ Last: 26

24-Colorado Avalanche (5-4) The 4-1 start was hard to believe. Lost three straight before edging Dallas. Wins: NYR, BOS, BOS, ANA, DAL Last: 23

25-Florida Panthers (4-5) Big week with triumphs over the Capitals and Ducks. Reimer has seized the cage with Luongo on IR. Wins: TB, STL, WAS, ANA Last: 28

26-Vancouver Canucks (5-3-1) The second-best bad team out west that begins with the letter, “V,” right now. Winners of three straight, even if it was Buffalo, Detroit and Minnesota. Wins: EDM, OTT, BUF, DET, MIN Last: 29

27-Detroit Red Wings (4-6-1) After a 4-1 start to the season, the Wings have been clipped. Wins: MIN, OTT, AZ, VGK Last: 21

28-New York Rangers (3-6-2) You know things are bad when you’re not even the best team in New York. Wins: MON, NSH, AZ Last: 27

29-Montreal Canadiens (2-7-1) Sacre bleu! They’re not this bad. But it’s been bad. Wins: BUF, FLA Last 25

30-Buffalo Sabres (3-6-2) Winners of two of its last three. Something to build on. Wins: ANA, BOS, DET Last: 30

31-Arizona Coyotes (0-9-1) After a date with the Devils, look for a possible upset of Philly or Detroit for its first win of the season. Last: 31
