On Tap: The Gordon Cup, the most prestigious tournament in state history — predating the NJSIAA state tournament by two decades — is up next. Pitting the the top 10 teams in the Gordon Conference, this season marks the 59th Gordon Cup, which began in 1959.

With an empty-net goal, Christian Brothers sealed its eighth Gordon Cup with a 3-1 triumph over Delbarton last season. The triumph marked the Monmouth County school’s first Gordon Cup win since 2013 and fourth in the last 10 years. CBA is tied with Brick for the second-most Gordon Cups in the state (eight), just one behind all-time leader Seton Hall Prep, which has nine. Delbarton, which won it all in 2015, has captured six Gordon Cups.

The 2017 Gordon Cup Final is set for Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. at Codey Arena in West Orange.

On Tap: The puck will drop on the 39th annual New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) tournament across the state on Feb. 20, but before that several cup and conference championships need to be decided first.

The Mercer County Tournament is already underway and the Big North’s Gold, Silver and Bronze Cups, MCSSIHL’s Mennen, Halvorsen and Haas Cups, NJIIHL’s McInnis and Kelly Cups as well as the Shore Conference Tournament is almost upon us.

The 2017 NJSIAA Tournament finals, declaring a Public A, Public B and Non-Public state champion, is tentatively set for March 6 at Prudential Center in Newark.
