Laconia, N.H. — The New England Wolves, proud members of the Eastern Hockey League, have announced an expansion of their off-ice coaching and counseling sessions for the 2017-18 season.

David Pollak brings a wealth of knowledge to the Wolves’ staff.

Dave Pollak, JD M.Ed, Professor MCIS, New England College and Adjunct Professor, Plymouth State University, has been hired to lead the Wolves in their off-ice coaching curriculum.

“Dave has been working with students and athletes for the past dozen years in the Lakes Region,” Wolves’ Head Coach and General Manager Andrew Trimble said. “His passion is for helping people to achieve excellence by harnessing the power of neuroscience through self-awareness, mental preparation, and behavioral change.”

The Wolves’ “Peak Performance Counseling” will be a 16-week program designed to be sport-specific.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Through this program, participants will

• Set Goals
• Specify metrics
• Identify Roadblocks
• Learn Skills
• Enhance Self-control
• Build Mental Toughness and Confidence
• Become Better Players and Improve Team Cohesion

Each 90-minute weekly session will involve visual study and engage the student-athlete in individual or group activity followed by a discussion. Homework consisting of individual or group work to consolidate learning will be expected to be completed and each participant’s progress will be tracked.

The hands-on peak performance counseling headed up by Pollak is in addition to the Wolves’ daily ice time, workouts and video sessions.

“It has been our focus since day one to provide a complete picture of development to our athletes,” Trimble added. “Confidence and emotional well-being is a critical a component to development and is too often overlooked.”
