The fight against cancer is one we can all get behind.
The coaches in New Jersey’s Gordon Conference took that sentiment to heart this season, joining forces in the fight against cancer as part of the “Coaches vs. Cancer” initiative.
During the 2018-19 ice hockey season, the heralded 10-team conference made up of prep high schools in the Garden State, will compete in upcoming games in the mutual fight to end cancer. Coaches from all 10 of the Gordon Conference teams — Bergen Catholic, Bishop Eustace, Christian Brothers Academy, Delbarton, Don Bosco Prep, Gloucester Catholic, Pope John, St. Augustine, St. Peter’s Prep and Seton Hall Prep — will each dedicate one game to the American Cancer Society’s Coaches vs. Cancer Program.
“We are proud to be involved with the Coaches vs. Cancer event and to be supporting the lifesaving work of the American Cancer Society, Michael Green, Head coach of Bishop Eustace and a Coaches vs. Cancer volunteer says. “We all have a passion for high school sports and using it as a platform to raise money for the fight against cancer is a natural fit for the high school coaches community.”
During the dedicated games, players will wear Coaches vs. Cancer t-shirts for their pre-game off-ice warm-up and again after the game. The games will raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society’s mission to save lives, celebrate life and lead the fight for a world without cancer.
