DETROIT, MI — The growth of women’s hockey is undeniable. With the recent success on the international stage and the National Women’s Hockey League, it is clear #HockeyisForEveryone.

A total of 2,160 players from 108 teams spanning 15 U.S. states and four world countries hit the ice at six different rinks, and when the ice chips settled eight new team champions were crowned at the 2019 CCM Girls Ice Hockey World Invite Nov. 8-10 in suburban Detroit.

Little Caesars led the way capturing three team titles (14U Tier I, 16U Tier I, 19U Tier II) while the Chicago Mission (12 U Tier I), Clearview Ice Cats (12U Tier II), Chatham Crush (14U Tier II), Florida Alliance (16U Tier II) and Belle Tire (19U Tier I) also emerged victorious.

The titlists capped a whirlwind weekend of hockey as teams from Alaska, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin looked on along with squads from Ontario, Canada and Russia.

“The 2019 CCM World Hockey Invite Girls tournament really rocked Detroit this past weekend,” Tournament Director Julie Paroski said. “We had over 100 teams participating from as far as Alaska to Moscow to Ontario in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 age classifications. The girls had a blast with the “On the Bench Crew” too, who visited a couple of rinks on Friday and Saturday.  Great hockey all weekend long with lots of tied games during the round-robins. We also had exciting overtime and shootout in the semifinals which shows the competitive level of this event.”

Games were played at six different venues including Suburban Ice in Macomb and Farmington Hills, John Lindell Ice Arena in Royal Oak, Onyx Ice Arena in Rochester as well as ice arenas in Hazel Park and Novi.

“We at 200×85 would like to thank all of the teams, players and parents for traveling to the Metro Detroit area to compete in one of the biggest girls tournament in the world!” Pardoski added. “We graciously thank the wonderful sponsors and the support of our many arena on-ice and off-ice staff.  We can’t wait for next year’s event!”
