Thomas Colucci tied it with his first of two goals 4:19 into the third period before John O’Hern delivered the go-ahead goal with 2:58 remaining in regulation as Seton Hall Prep, No. 5 in The Hockey Advantage Private Schools Top 10, survived a scare with four goals in the final frame to come back and defeat Point Pleasant Boro-Manchester Township, 5-3, at Codey Arena in West Orange.

After a turnover in the neutral zone, Colucci took a pass and released it all in one motion from the top of the circle to tie the game at 2-2. Maintaining momentum and offensive zone as play continued, Devon Dobres gave Seton Hall Prep its first led of the game as he finished the rebound in the slot off of Jack Bachman’s initial shot.

Point Pleasant Boro battled back to tie it, 3-3, when Eric Dahl took a point-to-point pass from Corey Campbell at the top of the blue line before firing one home with 4:33 left.

Seton Hall Prep went back in front just 1:05 later as O’Hern tapped home a loose puck after Point Pleasant Boro goalie John Meyer (32 saves) couldn’t corral the rebound on Stephen Buck’s first shot.

With Meyer pulled in favour of an extra attacker, Colucci added his second game — and Seton Hall Prep’s fourth goal of the period — with 1:45 remaining.

Colucci, who finished with two goals and an assist on Jake Sandomeno’s power-play goal in the first period, helps Seton Hall Prep improve to 8-5-3, including five wins in its last six games.

Campbell and Eddie Coyne scored twice in a two-goal second-period for Point Pleasant Boro (7-6-1).

After a 7-1-1 start, the co-op has lost five straight. It will look to get back in the win column on Monday in a rematch with Toms River East/South, a game that has been postponed twice due to inclement weather.
