Last month, HockeyClan, in association with the staff at Hockey Coach Vision, released its 50th installment — “Back-to-Back 3@3.“
Hockey Coach Vision, a world-wide leader in providing new, hockey-specific tips, training and skills, continues to provide helpful videos to coaches to pass on to the next generation of ice hockey players.
Hockey coaches are some of the most dedicated, selfless and honorable men and women in sports. They are our mentors and peers, friends and neighbours, parental figures and community leaders who provide advice or someone to confide in when times are tough.
Being an ice hockey coach is one of the most thankless jobs in sports, however. It requires long hours at unusual times — early mornings and late, late evenings. Compensation is minimal in most cases — some are even volunteers, giving up their time and own resources — to provide their team with the very best available.
Clearly, the game of hockey is the greatest game on ice, but what makes coaching the sport, passing on the intricacies to the next generation of athletes so rewarding?
HockeyClan, in association with the staff at Hockey Coach Vision, including Larry Huras, Filip Kostovic and Franjo Zajec, are proud to announce the very first contest — “What Makes Hockey Coaching the Best Job in Sports?”
Beginning today, HockeyClan will be accepting written submissions from coaches detailing what makes coaching ice hockey the best job in sports?
The contest, open to coaches of all levels, world-wide, should be submitted in essay form with one or more photo releases identifying you and your team and emailed to MAIN@HOCKEYCLAN.COM
The top-four entries will be published on HockeyClan.com with one overall winner to be voted on and decided by you — the fans — who will award a one-year Hockey Coach Vision coaching license (a $99 value) to the winner.
The deadline to submit entries will be Friday, April 3 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Voting will open April 4 and last until Friday, April 10. One overall winner will be decided on Sunday, April 12.
There are no rules other than your submission must be 100% original. Suggested submission length is between 200 and 500 words, though that is only a suggestion! Please include the title, “Hockey Coach Contest” in the subject line and be sure to include your byline, where you live, what rink(s) you call home and what level you coach.
