WOODBRIDGE — Drew Galea scored twice and picked up a pair of assists while T.J. Evan also hit net for two goals to power Colonia when it skated to a 6-1 victory over Central Regional at the Arenas in the Woodbridge Community Center.

The decision extended Colonia’s winning streak to six games as they improved to 14-2-1 overall.

The Patriots controlled much of the fast-paced first period and opened the scoring on their first shot. Off the opening faceoff Colonial quickly gained the Central Regional zone and set up before Galea knocked in a loose puck on a scramble in the slot for a 1-0 lead. Jarrett Dulemba assisted on the goal, just 1:05 into the first.

Brian Nieroda struck for an unassisted tally after intercepting an errant clearing attempt and snapped in a shot with 9:23 remaining to give Colonial a 2-0 advantage it carried into the second period. The Patriots outshot Central, 12-6, after the opening 15 minutes.

Central Regional (5-11-1) cut the deficit to 2-1 after a right circle shot by Kyle Schweighardt deflected off the elbow of Colonia goaltender Adam Godfrey (16 saves) 1:37 into the second.

The Patriots grabbed the two-goal lead again when Galea struck for his second goal of an assist from Travis Beni. Galea later battled for a loose puck in the offensive zone corner and fed Evan for a shorthanded scoring shot before the second period closed to push Colonia’s advantage to 4-1.

Central Regional, which was outshot 28-17 overall, was unable to capitalize on a two-man advantage in the second and close the three-goal deficit heading into the third period.

Evan collected his second goal 5:10 into the third on the power play with Galea assisting at 5:10 for a 5-1 lead before Beni closed out the scoring 2:54 later, with Evan and Amber Spearnock assisting.
