The Chatham-Madison co-op affectionately known as “Chatison” received three goals from Molly Coyne among seven different scorers en route to a 9-1 victory over Oak Knoll at the Rock Ice Center in Dunellen Monday night.
Hannah Bedell opened the scoring for Chatham just 1:45 into the game, assisted by McKenna O’Connor and Cate Gallagher, but Oak Knoll came right back 14 seconds after the ensuing face-off as Paige Kehoe scored to tie it at 1-1 at the 13:01 mark of the first period.
Katherine Guido drew an assist on the game-tying goal.
Chatham responded with eight unanswered goals, including four in the opening frame as Coyne scored twice and Daniella Groh and Josephine Piacenti also found the back of the net to stake claim to a 5-1 lead after one.
Jennifer Olnowich and Sydney Schreck scored 3:37 apart in the second period as Chatham extended its lead to 7-1 after two before Gallagher hit 1:38 into the third to make it an 8-1 game.
Coyne, a freshman, completed the hat trick with 6:20 remaining in regulation and finished with four points in the triumph.
Goaltender Casey Marshall stood tall in between the pipes, halting 34 of the 35 shots she faced as Chatham-Madison improves to 3-0 this season.
It was a balanced attack for Chatham, which saw 11 different players find the scoresheet in some capacity.
Annabelle Brodeur registered 14 saves for Oak Knoll (0-1).
